Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The instructions below are specifically directed at authors that wish to submit a manuscript to Tropical Journal of Environmental Management.

Tropical Journal of Environmental Management considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Tropical Journal of Environmental Management, that they have not been published already, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition will be charged with all costs which Tropical Journal of Environmental Management incurs and their papers will not be published.

Contributions to Tropical Journal of Environmental Management must report original research and will be subjected to peer-review by referees at the discretion of the Editorial Office. 

Types of article

Articles should be 3000–6000 words long, although shorter articles will be considered, and articles longer than 6000 words will be accepted on an occasional basis, if the topic demands this length of treatment. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all manuscripts (whether original or revised) are accurately typed before final submission. Manuscripts will be returned to the author with a set of instructions if they are not submitted according to our style. 

Manuscript Submission 

All submissions will be subject to the normal process of peer review and should be made electronically by email attachment to tjenvrionmentalmgt@yahoo.com Please do not send PDFs/read-only files. 

Manuscript Preparation

  • The title of the paper and the author(s) name(s) should appear at the beginning of the paper.
  • All pages of the manuscript must be numbered.
  • All the authors of a paper should include their full names, affiliations, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses on the cover page of the manuscript. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. The affiliations of all named co-authors should be the affiliation where the research was conducted. If any of the named co-authors moves affiliation during the peer review process, the new affiliation can be given as a footnote. Please note that no changes to affiliation can be made after the article is accepted. Please note that the email address of the corresponding author will normally be displayed in the article.
  • The paper should include an abstract (of 100-250 words) and 3-6 keywords.
  • English language is preferred.
  • U.K. English is preferred.
  • Papers should be as concise as possible.
  • Authors must adhere to SI units. Units are not italicised.

Tables and figures

Tables and figures must be typed on separate sheets and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered and typed on a separate sheet. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the paper.

Equations and formulae

Mathematical: Mathematical equations should preferably be type-written, with subscripts and superscripts clearly shown. 

References

Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list, but may be mentioned in the text. If these references are included in the reference list they should follow the standard reference style of the journal and should include a substitution of the publication date with either 'Unpublished results' or 'Personal communication'. 

For Tropical Journal of Environmental Management the APA (6th edition) Referencing system is to be used. References are listed alphabetically at the end of the paper, double spaced, and conform to current journal style:
